Ramadan

Its always been the case with me or rather with everyone that is when we are away from something we tend to value it a lot.

June 18th marked the beginning of Ramadan 2015. Am I fasting ? No. Am I in Dubai? No.But still everyday morning at work  I check gulfnews.com quite religiously  to keep a check on whats happening in and around Dubai during Ramadan.

Last year I persuaded my colleagues to go for Iftar and we all went for it .The reason being that  I knew it would remain as 'The Iftar' and I wanted to cherish it for sometime till I get another chance to have Iftar in Dubai

I landed in Dubai in Oct 2008 and I remember it was Eid-Al-Adha sometime in Dec 2008. I was greeted by the lady next door and that was when I realized it was a festival that day.
Following year I learned how religiously people follow Ramadan in Dubai. I learned about it more when I started working for Emirates Airline in 2010 Aug .

If prompting someone to break their fast is a sin then I have sinned :). We 3 at work got into his(the one who broke his fast) car ,drove to Deira City Center , got Burgers from Burger King ,came back to the parking lot and ate a lot sitting in his car. I still remember his agonized face because during Iftar the same day he had to act all hungry and thirsty  while breaking the fast around his family. Yeah I take all the blame ...:)

Moving out of Dubai has definitely created  a vacuum somewhere in me. Seeing my Facebook friends' post about this year's Ramadan makes me wanna jump into that vacuum and sulk sitting there all the day. But I need to move on and thrive in this emotional unbalance for my own betterment.

Take Care!

Dubai At Its Best- Dubai Shopping Festival

Its the beginning of that time of the the year  I just love. Closing of summer , starting of fall and oh yeah winter is Close By.. :)
Weather is changing gradually. Temperature is dropping by and in the mornings fog started to appear .
Winter always reminds me of  X'mas celebrations in my hometown.Detail in another post.. :)

Recently  dates for DSF-2013 was announced and I was thrilled to hear it. My first experience with DSF was in 2009. During the season they conduct various events throughout Dubai , like prize drawing ,fashion shows etc. All the participating shops will be offering discounts as well chance to participate in some draw.
We get amazing deals in electronics ,home appliances and all.
The main attraction is Global Village where we have many pavilions of various countries. And in each pavilion you get to buy goodies from that country. I bought pendants from Yemen pavilion both the times I went there.During Weekends they have various stage shows by many groups representing their countries.

If you are planning to visit Dubai , winter is the best time according to me. It can really get cold during nights and I just love that.DSF 2013 is from Jan 3rd  2013 to  Feb 3rd 2012.

One story from my side about DSF is , i went to global village in alternative style.I visited in 2009 ,couldnt go in 2010,again went in 2011 , but couldnt make it in 2012... I fervently hope I can go in 2013 with  new addition in my family, thats my son.. :)

Feel of Racism or ?

Me and Hubby work with Emirates Group in Dubai. Being an employee there , you are entitled for discounts in almost everywhere,be it Hotels,Shopping,Night Life etc.
Its custom for us employees to check what are the offers before heading for  a weekend and utilize it for the fullest.

So me and hubby brainstormed(Yes we did!) and decided we will head to a club in  'Address' which is a five star hotel near to Dubai Mall.
We dressed up and I was even told to wear black nail polish to get that exotic look! And I did !

Hired a cab and reached the venue. There the bouncer standing with that rugged look and  he informs ' You need to have booking'. Just ten seconds before he let  other couple without asking anything.

Hubby :  'hmm.. hmmm ..We are Emirates Employees'

Bouncer : "Oh, Cabin Crew?????"

Hubby : "Nodded his head in 'YES'"

Me : Perplexed and  nodding in 'NO"...

Hubby gave me that frowning luk and  the bouncer let us in cuz he belived that we are Cabin Crew!!

The point here is hubby had the assurance and belief that he is qualified to be a Cabin Crew in Emirates Airlines (look wise ..:D )and I dint have that much of a low self esteem... ..

Neverthless,We enjoyed and the Music was good..We were the only Indians and brown skinned out there. Most of them were Cabin Crew of the Group..

Another weekend in Dubai Yet Again! Happy weekend Guys!

Dubai Blues

Its 10.30 PM here in Dubai. And I thought will strike this space once again...
If you check the date , between each of my entries there is a huge gap.. Now the gap between this one and the last one is a significant one since I GOT MARRIED in this gap!!!!!! DAMN ME!!
I got married on 20 th October 2008 and straight to Dubai on October 27 th 2008 .
Roamed around here and there in Dubai , visited almost all the clubs , was amazed to find out the lane discipline of traffic , and REALLY amazed at the CARS since this was my first trip ever outside INDIA..
Oh forgot to say, We were not given entry in one of the clubs cuz of the skin color ...that to in an ARAB country....rather an ASIAN country.. GRRRRR!!!!
It was a huge gap from my professional life also..But now this gap is getting too much extended..
If u check my mail inbox in last month the recipient's address's only starts with words like hr,cv,jobs, career,it etc....
And my baby Google machine gets a hit from me at least ten times in a day with the keywords IT jobs in Dubai,Java Jobs in Dubai, software jobs in Dubai.. but that was in the first week now it has broadened to HR executive jobs in Dubai, web designer jobs in Dubai And i don't know what not.....Leave all those now
Hey there wind blowing outside marking an end to the winter .. now i have no clue how the summer gonna be.. just heard from everyone that its gonna be really GTEATTTTTTTTTTT!!!
And oh yeah had been to DSF twice.Nice experience..Being there you will feel as if you have come to really a global village .. Merging of culture and civilization..

There was this guy named Pak M (Darshini knows who is it) ..Swati also should remember.. I am sure u guys will after reading the following sentences..
His orkut profile says
"Idea of a perfect first date" : Cool
"From my past relationships I learned " : Cool
